Carolyn Sue Harris, 77, of Newton died on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at her home. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to an Animal Rescue League of the donor’s choice to be used for cats may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Carolyn, the daughter of Roger and Chloris Rachel (VanBaren) Otto, was born on November 6, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in several locations around central Iowa attending school in Kellogg and Newton before graduating from Des Moines Tech in 1964. Carolyn worked many years for Farmland Insurance in Des Moines and had most recently worked as the Catering Coordinator for Grinnell College for 10 years. Carolyn and her life partner, Bernie, also enjoyed buying items and selling them at Collectamania in Des Moines. Carolyn was a talented painter and liked to sell her paintings at area craft and vendor shows. She also loved to read, cook, and go to the casino.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Mike Ingram of Cross Hill, South Carolina; two grandchildren; and her life partner, Bernie Allison of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
