Cathy Diane (Caywood) Erskine

Native of Petrolia, Texas and resident of Newton, Iowa, Cathy Diane (Caywood) Erskine passed away Friday November 5, 2021.  She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and grand dogs which she loved dearly.  Cathy Diane Caywood was born February 24, 1956, at Bethania Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas to Benjamin Thomas Caywood and Ella Mae Caywood, the third of five children born in this union.  Cathy was a graduate of Petrolia High School and Midwestern State University where she earned her degree in nursing. 

Cathy married Gary Erskine in Wichita Falls, Texas in May of 1975, and together they had two children, Jeremy Lynn Erskine and Jennifer Ann Erskine. 

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Ella; and her brother Jimmy Wayne Caywood.  

Cathy is survived by her son Jeremy (Jami) Erskine of Spring, TX; daughter Jennifer (Ryan) Maki of Newton, IA; grandchildren Sydney Sokora of San Marcos, TX, Cannon and Cash Erskine of Spring, TX, Taylor, Dawson, and Reagan Maki of Newton, IA; sisters Linda Kellogg, Lesli (Jerry) Campbell, and Laura Pressler of Wichita Falls, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Cathy was proud of her thirty year career in nursing.  She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and did it any time she got the chance.  Cathy loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and bowling.  Her biggest love was her family and watching her grandkids play sports.       

A graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, TX on Saturday November 13th at 11:00am.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
