Cheyenne Leigh Carmichael, 24, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died on Sunday, April 20, 2025. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Cheyenne, the daughter of Ed and Misty Levesque, was born on March 25, 2001, in Des Moines. She grew up in Newton and was a part of the Newton High School Class of 2019. She finished her high school education online with Penn Foster. In 2023, Cheynne moved to Des Moines .
Cheyenne was currently enrolled at DMACC and was looking forward to starting in the Mortuary Science program. While going to school, she also worked at Balance Autism in Clive as a RBT (Registered Behavior Technician). On February 20, 2025, Cheyenne was united in marriage with Jon Carmichael in Las Vegas. They enjoyed traveling together and were looking forward to an upcoming move out West. They were also in the process of joining the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Cheyenne found magic in things people often overlooked and appreciated things that no one else could. Her always inquisitive nature included the macabre, gothic architecture, and collecting unique and interesting artifacts. Cheyenne could find value in what others might consider worthless. She prided herself with thinking about the world on a different level and had a unique style that didn’t copy anyone elses. She also had a knack for finding old treasures while out antique shopping that would make perfect gifts for family and friends.
Cheyenne is survived by her husband, Jon Carmichael of Des Moines; parents, Ed and Misty Levesque of Newton; brother, Christopher Levesque (Ashley Buenrostro) of Newton; her maternal grandmother, Dolores Lynch of Newton; parents-in-law, Herb and Jo Ann Carmichael of Davenport; and her beloved cats, Baba Booey, Catatouille, and Josh. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Virginia Albright and maternal grandfather, Gene Lynch.
