Christopher Mark Doran, 67, of Newton, died Thursday, April 17, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chris’s name can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Please make checks payable to Robbie Doran.
Chris, the son of Paul B. and Marian (Pyle) Doran, was born October 11, 1956, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1975 and later attended school for welding and attended DMACC for psychology. Chris worked at Fisher Controls in Kellogg for several years. He then worked at Maytag for 18 years. After Maytag closed, he worked for Vermeer. Chris was a proud Democrat and enjoyed watching political shows. He loved golfing, fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time outdoors. He was an accomplished grower of plants and flowers—indoor and outdoor—and always made sure his lawn was golf course quality. Chris had been a longtime member of AA.
Chris is survived by his sons, Robbie Doran of Newton and Nathan Dewar of Newton; his grandchildren: Madison Doran, Drew Doran, Elijah Doran, Miley Doran, Alayna Dewar, Gavin Williams, and Lucy; his brother, David (Connie) Doran; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dustin Doran; his sister, Linda McKinney; and brother, Paul Francis Doran.
