Daniel S. DeGreef

   Daniel Shayne DeGreef, 77, of Des Moines, died Saturday, January 27, 2024.  No services are scheduled at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton is in charge of the arrangements.

   Dan, the son of John and Vivian (Warner) DeGreef, was born December 1, 1946, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1966. Dan served his country in the U.S. Army.  He farmed for many years before returning to school. He worked as a stockbroker and for Gateway before moving abroad. Upon his return to Iowa, he owned and operated his own laundromat before working for QuikTrip for 14 years.

 Those surviving Dan include his sons, Jon DeGreef of Newton  and Jason DeGreef of Newton; siblings: Penny Rasmussen, Debbie Swihart, and Mark DeGreef; and his nieces and nephews: Tracy (Jimmy Fane) Rasmussen, Kerry (Jason) Heryford, Sara (Chris) Jansen, and Kris (Kasey) Swihart.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jon DeGreef; and sister, Bonnye Varland.
