David Eugene Williams

David “Dave” Eugene Williams, 57, of Newton, formerly of Colfax, died on Monday, August 5, 2024 at MercyOne Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s name (checks payable to Michele Williams) may be left at the funeral home.

Dave, the son of Orvil Eugene and Cheryl (Jones) Williams, was born November 28, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. Following his high school graduation, Dave joined the United States Navy. He served during the Gulf War as a Hospital Corpsman aboard the U.S.S. Horne. He was especially proud of not taking lives but instead saving them during his service. After Dave’s service, he was a truck driver for a number of years before starting a metal recycling company with his brother. On June 11, 2011, Dave was united in marriage with Michele Fuller in Newton at the Sugar Grove Vineyard. Together they started a hobby farm where he enjoyed his orchard and canning. Dave also enjoyed sawmilling, woodworking, making ink pens, and repairing books. 

Dave is survived by his wife, Michele Williams; children, Samantha (Aaron) Stewart, Bailey (Nicole) Wall, Charlie Williams, Jackie (Tom) Williams, Caleb Williams, and Isabella Williams; grandchildren, Adam Stewart, Jared Kono, McKenna Kono, Keira Kono, and Adrian Ramirez; mother, Cheryl Williams; sister, Alice (Kevin) Lincoln; mother-in-law, Donna Fuller; sister-in-law, Tami Fuller; brother-in-law, Jim Fuller. He was preceded in death by his father, Orvil Eugene Williams; brother, Charles Roy Williams; and father-in-law, Bob Fuller.
