David "Dave" Dean Rojohn

David “Dave” Dean Rojohn, 81, of Newton died on Monday, August 31, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, at the funeral home.  Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital may be left at the funeral home.

Dave, the son of Harold and Inez (Wearmouth) Rojohn, was born on March 8, 1945, in Newton.  He was a member of the Newton High School Class of 1963.  On October 24, 1963, Dave was united in marriage with Louise Goode in Newton. Besides short times in Des Moines and California, Dave and Louise always called Newton home.  Dave worked for 21 years, at the Maytag Company, retiring in 2005.  He then drove school bus for 18 years.

Dave was a member of the UAW Local 997 and the IBEW Union, serving as past Union President. He enjoyed working on small engines and many days could be found sitting in his favorite chair watching Westerns or Murder She Wrote.  He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and would even talk his way into driving the bus for many of them.

Dave is survived by his wife, Louise Rojohn of Newton; children, David Guy Rojohn and Kim Rojohn-McQuin; his grandchildren, Mckayla (Dominique) Carroll, Ashley (Mike) Knoot, Amanda (Nathan) Jones, Sara (Danny) Banker, and Kyle (Shannon) Rojohn; great-grandchildren, Darrius, Jahynia, DaMyah, Zariya, Chloe, Emma, Braydon, Chloee, Mason, and Xavier; and a dear friend, Joyce Simpson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darrell Rojohn; sister, Ermalee De Moss; and son-in-law, Randy McQuin.
