Deloris "Dee" Ann (Lewis) Clark

Deloris “Dee” Ann Clark, 86, of Newton died on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Park Centre. No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials to Wesley Life Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dee, the daughter of Robert Charles and Noviline (Wickliff) Lewis, was born on August 30, 1935, in Newton, where she would live most of her life.  In 1976, Dee was united in marriage with Hubert “Butch” Clark in Ropesville, Texas. She worked at the Fireside Lounge and the West End Lounge in Newton.  After her grandsons were born, Dee stayed home and took care of them.  The boys have many special memories of grandma including her love of classic music from the 1950’s and 1960’s, her singing to them, the trips to Burger King or McDonalds (even when mom said no), and always slipping them some money whenever she saw them.  They also said that Grandma was always there when they needed someone to listen.  As the boy’s got older, Dee then worked for Rock Communication. Dee was also a meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed her flower garden, animals, and butterflies. 

Those left to honor Dee’s memory are her husband, Hubert “Butch” Clark of Newton; son, Terry (Barbara) Swihart of Newton, Clay (Sara) Swihart of Altoona, Kyle (Brooke) Swihart of Baxter, and Shawn Docekal of Marshalltown; and her great-grandchildren, Harrison Swihart, Rossi Swihart, Oliver Swihart, Daniel Docekal, and Erica Docekal.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Penny (Swihart) Docekal.
