Dennis "Denny" Landgrebe Obituary

Dennis “Denny” Lee Landgrebe passed away at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 10th, 2022.  There will be a private graveside service for the family at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Dennis, the son of Ronald and Theola (Teater) Landgrebe, was born May 22, 1955 in Newton, Iowa. He attended Newton High School and graduated in 1973, soon after he began working at Maytag. He eventually became a journeyman as a tool and die maker where he worked for 30 years until retirement in 2003 at the age of 48.

On June 29th, 1984, he was united in marriage with Kathleen “Kathie” (Brophy-Hurst). They made their home in Newton, but enjoyed many winters together in Texas after retirement. Denny had many interests such as flying his kites, camping, traveling, and going to the casino. He was also an avid race fan and willing to lend a hand to his racing buddies with crafting car parts.  He enjoyed valve cover racing with his Dad and Grandson, Lane. He was also a long time member of the Isaac Walton League where he enjoyed dinners on Thursday nights and playing cards with “the guys”.  Denny and Kathie had greatly enjoyed a trip to Australia to visit friends.

Denny is survived by his loving wife Kathie, his parents, Ronald and Theola; children, Amanda (Jeff) Fifer of Reasnor, Kellie (Todd) Harmon of Spencer, and Chad (Yvonne) Hurst of Fresno, California;  8 grandchildren, Morgan Fifer, Lane Fifer, Jessica “Kika” (Kyle Culp) Harmon, Jessica Nelson, Joni (Dean) Hilbrands, Josh (Jessica) Woodin, Chance McGough, Emily Hurst; 2 great-granddaughters, Aubriella Woodin and Raelynn Hilbrands; sister, Sherry (Don) Puetz; a niece, a nephew, three great-nephews and three great-nieces; and many aunts, uncles, other family and friends.

Denny’s family would like to express an extra special thank you to neighbors Jimmy Fane & Tracy Rasmussen.
