Donald L. Henderson

   Donald Lee Henderson, 94, of Grinnell and formerly of Lynnville, passed away March 27, 2026, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.  Graveside services will be held at a later date.

   Don was born in Albia, Iowa on April 1, 1931, to James Floyd Henderson and Ethyl Marie (Carlson) Henderson.  Don was the youngest of five and grew up on the family farm near Lovilia. He graduated from Albia High School in 1948. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He did two tours of service in Korea.  In 1951, he married Carol J. Cross. They were blessed with three children: Norman (Vicki) of Grinnell, Jim (Erin) of Newton, and Beth Welsh of Grinnell.

   Don always enjoyed being around family, especially being a grandpa. He enjoyed being around horses, woodworking, and having coffee with friends.

   He is survived by his three children; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters; his brother; one grandson; and one step great-grandson.

   Don will be greatly missed.
