Donald "Don" Dean Lint

Donald “Don” Dean Lint, 90, of Newton, died on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials in Don’s name (checks made payable to Dennis Lint) may be left at the funeral home.

Donald, the son of Thelma (Shankland) and Rex Lint, was born in Newton on July 2, 1931. He was a lifelong resident of Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1950. After graduating high school, Don served in the Army during the Korean war from 1951 to 1953. On January 12, 1953, he married Betty Irene Heltzel in Newton. Don worked at Maytag for many years. Throughout his life, Don was a member of the Izaak Walton League, American Legion, VFW, NRA, and UAW. In his free time, Don enjoyed woodworking, golf, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.

Don is survived by his sons, Larry (RoxAnne) Lint of Newton, Dennis Lint of Ankeny, and Rick (Helen) Lint of Fair Oaks, California; grandchildren, Brandon, Katie, Nicholaas, Travis, Shawn, Jessica, Jeff, Danielle, Rachael, Jordan, Joe, Tim, and Maoqui; twenty great-grandchildren, including, Kaden, Logan, Lainey, Abigail, Alyssa, Ethan, Donovan, and Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Jacie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brother, Bob Lint.
