Evelyn's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, at the funeral home. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital can be left at the funeral home.
Evelyn, the daughter of Frank and Edith Irene (Burt) Harger, was born August 9, 1926, in Columbia. She was united in marriage with Dale Mohler on November 7, 1942, in Unionville, Missouri. They lived in Knoxville for 4 years before moving to Newton in 1946. Evelyn was a waitress at the Snook Inn for 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed getting together with her “card girls” and was devoted to spending time with her family. She was a mother figure to many people and welcomed many people into her life and cared for them.
Those left to honor Evelyn’s memory include her grandchildren, Matt (Kerrie) Mohler of West Des Moines, Joe (Paula) Mohler of Ankeny, Dan (Trina) Mohler of Newton, Jeff Mohler of San Jose, California, and Rebecca Walston of The Colony, Florida; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Mackenzie and Easton Mohler, Kendall Mohler, Derrick (Theresa) Mohler, Ashley (Ethan) Prather, Katherine Mohler, and Summer Walston; her great-great-granddaughter, Abigail Grace Mohler; her daughters-in-law, Rosie Mohler and Barb Mohler; her brother, Frank Harger; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; sons, Gary, Dan and Frank; brothers, Vernon Harger and Marvin “Bill” Harger; and sister, Norma Jean Counter.
