Geraldine Mae (Gearhart) Routh

Geraldine Mae Routh of Newton passed away December 7, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center under the care of Every Step Hospice. A graveside service and celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held at a later date.  The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling her arrangements.  Memorials to Every Step Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Geraldine was born in Newton on August 5, 1932 to Virgil “Pat” and Clovine Gearhart. She graduated from Newton High School.  Geraldine was united in marriage with Gale “Bud” Routh in 1950. They made their home in Ira, Mingo, Newton, and Park Rapids, Minnesota. They had three children, Michael, Douglas, and Linda.

Those left to survive Geraldine are her son, Michael (Kim) Routh of Newton; daughter, Linda (Bob) Mahoney of Oxford; grandchildren, Wendy Hartz of Des Moines, William Mortenson (Amy) of Kansas City, Emily (Bob) Haines of Des Moines, and Chelsea Cobb of Cedar Rapids; and her four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; her son, Douglas; and a grandson, Eli Routh.
