Grace LaVerne (Bowie) Halterman

Grace LaVerne Halterman, 82, of Newton died on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Grace’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Grace, the daughter of Theodore and LaVerne (Drake) Bowie, was born on June 17, 1939 in Newton.  She was a lifelong resident of Newton. Grace was a homemaker, raising her six children. She loved animals and enjoyed playing BINGO.  

Grace is survived by her six children, Jeff (Rosemary) Chapman of Haverhill, Teresa Chapman of Newton, Brenda Chapman of Newton, Kevin Chapman of Newton, Adam (Pat) Halterman of Newton, and Matthew Halterman of Newton; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Christina Chapman; and her two brothers and three sisters.
