Hollie Louise Demichelis, 74, of Newton died on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Park Centre. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to an Animal Rescue League or a Women’s Service Group of the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home.
Hollie, the daughter of Gail Arden and Louise Maxine (Quarter) Scott, was born on June 18, 1950 in Des Moines. She grew up in the Lucas County area. On March 2, 1968, Hollie was united in marriage with Darl Demichelis in Lacona. In 1975, they moved to Newton. Hollie worked as a waitress at Nickerson Farms, then at Kmart for many years, and later as a manager at Taco Johns. Hollie enjoyed watching soap operas and listening to music. She also adored her many pets; especially Deuce and Sammy.
Hollie is survived by her husband, Darl Demichelis of Newton; daughter, Melissa Demichelis (Tony Miller) of Des Moines; and her granddaughter, Sofia R. Lopez. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gail Eugene Demichelis; and her siblings, Jim Scott and Marsha Van Gundy.
