Hubert "Butch" Clark

Hubert “Butch” Clark, 77, of Newton, died on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Newton Village. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by a graveside service with military honors at 2:30 p.m. at McKeever Cemetery in rural Colfax.  Memorials to the American Legion Post 111 may be left at the funeral home or the graveside.

Butch was born to Hubert and Betty (Jones) Clark, Sr. on October 13, 1948, in Oskaloosa. He grew up in Knoxville and attended Knoxville Community Schools. Butch began his career at the Maytag Company in Newton before serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971. Upon his return, Butch continued his career at the Maytag Company. In 1976, Butch was united in marriage with Deloris “Dee” (Lewis) Swihart in Ropesville, Texas. They made their home in Newton. In 2004, Butch retired as a Supervisor from Maytag but would continue to work at Lowes and then at TPI.

Butch was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and VFW Post 1655. He co-owned Betty’s Action T-shirts at the Knoxville Raceway for many years. He and Dee enjoyed many road trip vacations together. Since Dee's death in 2022, Butch liked spending time at the Newton YMCA.

Butch is survived by his brothers, Randy (Lela) Clark and Danny (Pat) Clark; his stepson, Terry (Barbara) Swihart; his grandchildren, Clay (Sara) Swihart, Kyle (Brooke) Swihart, and Shawn Docekel; great-grandchildren, Harrison Swihart, Rossi Swihart, Oliver Swihart, Daniel Docekel, and Erica Docekal; and his step-siblings, Mike Lister,  Sue Lister (Howard Bierenbaum), Kevin Lister, and Jodi Lister.

Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris “Dee” Clark; his father, Hubert Clark, Sr; mother and stepfather, Betty and Bob Lister; and his daughter Penny Docekel.
