Ivan Samuel Moredock, 87, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Park Centre Skilled Care after a short illness. No services are scheduled.
Ivan was born in Newton in February of 1939 to Walter and Frances Moredock. He attended Newton schools, graduating in the Class of 1957. One year later, he married his high school sweetheart, Kay Jean Endsley. In 67 years, the only time they were apart was when he went to Marine Corps training in 1960.
Ivan began working for Hy-Vee Food Stores on the day the first store opened in Newton at 1900 1st Ave. E. and went on the manage Hy-Vee stores in Leon, IA, Washington, IA, and Kirksville, MO. After 33 years with Hy-Vee, Ivan returned home to Newton and worked at the Maytag Dairy Farm for 17 years.
Ivan loved being outdoors, Cardinals baseball, and watching Jeopardy. He was a devoted husband and father, hardworking, kind and quick to lend a hand.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Kay Jean Moredock; daughters: Melinda (Ocala) Wings, Melissa (Paul) Herman, and MiAnne (Bob) Prusia; and granddaughter/daughter, Haley (Zach) Pinegar; brother, Walter D. (Shirley) Moredock; and sisters, Doris (Allen) Witzenberg and Marcia Nichols, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is loved and missed.
