James "Ed" Edward Keith

James Edward “Ed” Keith, 66, of Newton, died Monday, May 15, 2023, at his home in Newton. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. The family encourages you to dress casually and bring a lawn chair to the service. In lieu of fresh cut flowers, either plants or memorials to MercyOne Newton Cancer and Infusion Care or the American Lung Association can be left at the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Ed, the son of Virgil James and Mae Hulda (Northway) Keith, was born February 26, 1957. He was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1976. He served his country in the United States Army. Ed worked for Dodd’s Trash and Hauling for the last two decades, and before that worked for Gralnek-Dunitz. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. 

Ed is survived by his partner of 20 years, Brenda Nelson; children, Charlena Rice, Angie Grubb, Selena Tjardes, and Shawnna Marie; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his nieces and nephews by marriage, “The Van Dusseldorp Clan”: Tiffany Annee, Courtney Van Dusseldorp, Stacy Swank, Drew Van Dusseldorp and Brady Van Dusseldorp and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren, Olivia, Gracelyn, and Hunter.
