Jane Butler Obituary

Jane Ann Butler, 55, of Newton died on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials to the Nurse Navigator program at John Stoddard Cancer Center may be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service.

Jane, the daughter of Frank and Carolyn (Dee) Campbell, was born on April 18, 1966 in Newton.  She grew up in Baxter trapping and enjoying the outdoors as a tomboy with her two older brothers. Jane graduated in the Baxter High School Class of 1985. She was very active in high school with sports, other activities, and working at her parents’ restaurant.  Later she would receive her business degree from DMACC/Buena Vista University. On June 24, 1995, Jane was united in marriage with Mark Butler in Newton.  They made their home in Newton. Jane worked for many years in collections for the Maytag Company. For the past 10 years, she had worked for VOYA in process improvement and data analytics. Jane was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Many years ago, Jane and Mark vowed to live life to the fullest and they have been doing so ever since; they’ve enjoyed traveling, especially to Jamaica, buying the “good seats” to concerts, and going to Broadway shows.  Jane was a planner at heart and would admit that organizing some of their excursions was just as fun as the excursion itself.  Together they also enjoyed golfing and riding bikes.

Jane is survived by her husband, Mark Butler of Newton; parents, Frank and Carolyn (Dee) Campbell of Newton; two brothers, Randy Campbell of Pleasant Hill and Jeff (Karen) Campbell of Baxter; and her several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and sister-in-law, Valarie Campbell.
