Jerry L. Summers, 59, of Newton died on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.
Jerry, the son of Donald and Ellen (Shehan) Summers, was born on May 19, 1961 in Albia. He grew up in Albia and graduated from Albia High School in 1979. Jerry was united in marriage with Reisha Dulaney on June 2, 1979. Jerry worked at Kness Manufacturing from 1979-1992. In 1993, Jerry began working at the Maytag Company where he would work for the next 13 years. During that time, he and Reisha also moved to Monroe. After Maytag closed, Jerry worked at TPI from 2008-2010. In 2011, they made their home in Newton. Jerry enjoyed fishing, walking creeks looking for arrowheads, cruising country roads, and mushroom hunting. He also liked muscle cars, tinkering, telling stories, and astronomy. Jerry loved spending time with family and friends.
Those left to celebrate Jerry’s life are his wife, Reisha Summers of Newton; daughter, Chelsey (Mac) Beaudoin Summers of Parker, Colorado; brother, Charlie Summers of Keokuk; and his “second” daughter, Breanna Rutledge of Enid, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Stephen and Jacob Summers.
