Joseph “Joe” Dwayne Flake, 67, of Newton died on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. No services are scheduled at this time.
Joe, the son of Maynard Paul “Buzz” and Marcella Eileen (Postma) Flake, was born on June 28, 1956 in Newton. He was a graduate of Newton High School. Joe was a lifelong resident of Newton and had worked at the Maytag Company. He also loved coaching and watching baseball and going fishing.
Joe is survived by his two children, Josh Flake and Sara Flake, both of Milwaukie, Oregon; siblings, Randall (Keitha) Flake, Douglas (Jennifer) Flake, and Susan Flake, all of Newton; and his several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
