Keith W Westlund

Keith William Westlund, 66, of Newton died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at his home. A celebration of his life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Keith’s name may be left at the funeral home (checks to Anne Westlund).

Keith, the son of William and Grace (Liljequist) Westlund, was born on May 17, 1959, in Virginia, Minnesota. He grew up in the Iron Range area of Minnesota.  Keith graduated from Hibbing High School in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1977.  As an adult he moved to Colorado and then to Iowa in 1994.  In 2008, Keith was united in marriage with Anne (Maczkiewicz) Tappendick in Newton.  Keith worked for over 15 years in the Tire Department at Wal-Mart, retiring in 2023. He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, fishing, working on cars, and antiquing.  He also loved spending time with his family.

Keith is survived by his wife, Anne Westlund of Newton; children, Jessica Westlund (Matthew Bakalar) of Newton, Brian Westlund (Shy) of Newton, Gary (Rebecca) Tappendick of Georgia, Travis (Mary) Tappendick of Kansas, and Leanne Tappendick (Daniel Kemper) of Illinois; his grandchildren, Joseph, Kayden, Keagan, Korbin, Colten, Miles, Aurora, Hayden, Anthony, Atticus, Kendra, Gavin, Braxton, Eleana, and Deklan; siblings, Wes (Pat) Westlund of Ohio, Sheila Warmuth of Minnesota, Frank (Kelly) Westlund of Michigan, Walter Westlund of Des Moines, Becky Westlund of Pella, and Jim (Sherry) Westlund; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, June Gunderson.
