Kelsie Auffert Obituary

Kelsie Zita Auffert, 31, of Newton died on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.   The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  A private family funeral service will be held.  Memorials to Kelsie’s family (checks made payable to Brett Auffert) may be left at the funeral home.

Kelsie, the daughter of James and Zita (Gregan) Lambert, was born on February 17, 1989 in Iowa City.  She grew up in Kellogg and graduated from Newton High School in 2008.  Kelsie was united in marriage with Brett Auffert on November 13, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. They made their home in Newton.  Kelsie was a dedicated Direct Support Professional at Progress Industries. She loved her clients and work family. Kelsie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the YMCA.  She enjoyed running, walking, writing, and spending time with family.

Kelsie’s memory will live on through her husband, Brett Auffert of Newton; two daughters, Aubrie and Lexie Auffert; her parents, James and Zita Lambert of Kellogg; siblings, Jacob Lambert of Des Moines and Stacie (Dustin) Hargrave of Oskaloosa; and her nieces and nephews, Brittany, Mackenzie, Jacob, Bethany, Tyler, Dax, Rylea, Jacob, and JaCobe. She is also survived by Brett’s family including his mother, Cindy (Doug) Mikkelson of Newton; father, David Auffert of Parnell, Missouri; his siblings, Alicia Briner of Maryville, Missouri and Lea (Mike) Chaney of Newton; and nieces and nephews, Keagan, Sadie, Nikolai, and Everett.  She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and a brother, Zachariah Lambert.
