Obituary

Kendra Lynn Probasco, 44, of Newton died on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kendra’s name to assist her two daughters in the future (checks made payable to Laura Anderson) may be left at the funeral home.   

Kendra, the daughter of Paul Probasco and Laura (Parker) Anderson, was born on September 16, 1978 in Iowa City. She lived most of her life in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1997.  On July 9, 2005, Kendra was united in marriage with Josh Potter in his parent’s backyard in rural Newton. Kendra later earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from DMACC.  Most recently she was working as a law assistant at Nuzum and Montalvo Law Office in Newton. Kendra loved food and enjoyed cooking for her family.  She was extremely proud of her children and always wanted them to know.  Kendra also liked music and spending time with her friends.

Kendra is survived by her two daughters, Avery and Kylie Potter, of Newton; mother, Laura Anderson of Newton; her aunt, Linda (Gary) Osborn; uncle, Steve Probasco; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Probasco and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
