Kenneth “Kenny” Karl Schwarz, 69, passed away on May 3, 2026, at his home in Newton. Kenny, the son of Herb and Myrtle (Kingery) Schwarz was born on January 30, 1957. He was a 1975 graduate of Newton High School. Per Kenny’s wishes, no services are scheduled. Memorials to the American Legion Post 111 may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Kenny was married to Debbie Casper on December 29, 2012. They made their home in Newton. They did lots of traveling over the years including to Hilton Head, South Carolina, Key West, Florida, and Mexico to name a few. They also made several fishing trips to Canada.
Kenny worked many jobs over the years including working for his brother-in-law, Paul Slycord doing construction, for the Highway Commission, and working on a farm for the Welle's. He then drove a truck for many years for Bisom Truck line and other companies. Kenny later settled into a job at the Maytag Company as a phone technician which then transferred to working at home for AT&T, until he retired in 2022. He also worked at the Iowa Speedway for five years in maintenance taking care of phone lines and any other jobs that needed done. He was a past member of the Izaak Walton League and the Newton Elks and a current member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Kenny never met a stranger, if you were his friend, you were his friend for life. He was loved and respected by his family, friends and his grandchildren.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Debbie; his mother, Myrtle Schwarz; five children, Shane (Rachelle) Schwarz, Kayne (Sam) Schwarz, Levi (Sam) Schwarz, Rowdy (Kelley) Meyer and Jenny Newel; his grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Paul) Slycord and Kathy Hawkins; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Brenda Casper, and his many nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his grand dogs, Louie, Rip, and Gemma. He was preceded in death by his dad, Herb Schwarz and his father-in-law, Paul Casper.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edwards, Park Center Skilled Care, Palliative Care, Hospice Care (Erica, Dolly, Anna and Laura) and for all who reached out and showed care for him and his family!
