Kevin graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1979. Kevin was united in marriage with Sandy Jansen on September 26, 1980, in Sully. Kevin began working at New Century Farm Service in March of 1980 and over the course of his 41-year career would fill roles as a Custom Applicator, Plant Manager, LP Salesman, Energy Development Specialist, and Energy Manager, retiring in 2021.
Kevin was a member of the Journey Church in Marshalltown. He enjoyed four wheelin’ and going on four wheelin’ trips with Joshua, Steve, and a cousin, Jamie Brand. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Sandy DeGoey of Rhodes; children, Jillana (Stephen) Valbracht of Marshalltown and Joshua (Geri) DeGoey of Baxter; his grandchildren, Logan, Mason, and Aria Valbracht and Mackenzie and Tucker DeGoey; parents, Carl and Joyce DeGoey; his parents-in-law, Melvin and Marilyn Jansen of Newton; brothers-in-law, Bryan (Sue) Jansen of Ankeny and Curt (Bonita) Jansen of Newton; his nieces and nephews and their families; and his brother, Kent (Candice) DeGoey of Newton. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and a brother, Lanson in infancy.
Family and friends will miss Kevin but find peace and comfort knowing he is free from his earthly challenges these past six years. He is again the Kevin we knew. Rejoicing in Heaven with God and those who have gone before him. He will always be in our hearts.
