Kevin Shunk

   Kevin G. Shunk, 60, of Newton, died Thursday, May 7, 2026, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials in Kevin’s name can be left at the funeral home (please make checks payable to Trevor Shunk.)

   Kevin, the son of Glenn and Lois (Woody) Shunk, was born October 1, 1965, in Carson City, Michigan. He was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1984.  He then served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.  After his discharge, Kevin drove truck, worked at Per-Mar Security, Kent Feed, Country Kitchen, and Pizza Ranch.  He enjoyed fishing and reading.  He loved Jesus, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Iowa Hawkeyes—and he didn’t mind a cold beer, either.

   Kevin is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Shannon) Gear of Newton, Frankie Rice of Red Oak, and Trevor Shunk of Knoxville; his grandchildren: Madalyn Teed, Nathaniel Teed, Gerald McDaniels, Victoria McDaniels, Carter Purvis, Serenity Rice, Greyson Rice, and Kayson Rice; his parents, Glenn and Lois Shunk; his brother, Kenneth Shunk (Kim Howell); his niece, Sara (Coy) Penning; and his nephew, Jessie (Tori) Shunk.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Uva Shunk and his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Aletha Woody.
