Kris Lynn (Hess) Long

Kris “Krissy” Lynn Long, 65, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials in Krissy’s name (checks made payable to Jeff Long) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Krissy, the daughter of Burl and Mildred “Mickey” (Good) Hess, was born on February 15, 1958, in Newton. She was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School.  Krissy was united in marriage with Craig Krall and they were blessed with one son, Christopher.  After their divorce, Krissy was married to Jeff Long in 1993 in Newton.  She was a homemaker.  Krissy was an active member of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.  She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flowers, and canning.  She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Jeff and Krissy liked watching Sunday football together, cheering on Jeff’s Minnesota Vikings.  Everyone in the family knew not to bother them when football was on the tv.  

Krissy is survived by her husband, Jeff “Hippie” Long of Newton; children, Kayla Long (Joseph Farver) of Newton, Christopher Krall of Florida, Michael Long of Newton, Mandi Long (Benjamin Avila) of Newton, and Billy Long of California; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Gene (Sonya) Hess of Washington and Janie (Bob) Galloway of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy Warner.
