Obituary

Larry Duane Conner,76, currently of Marshalltown and formerly of Sioux City, died on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Rock Creek Lake in rural Kellogg. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 29, at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter.  Memorials to the Jasper County Veteran’s Affairs office may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Larry, the son of Elmer and Lila (Barnes) Conner, was born on May 5, 1947 in Le Mars, Iowa. He grew up in Lawton. Larry was united in marriage with Carol Bucklin in 1965 and they were blessed with three sons. Larry served his country in the US Navy from 1965-1968 and then was in the reserves until 1971. Larry loved to fish and go to the casino. He had also enjoyed racing cars in his younger years.

Larry is survived by his three children, Charles “Chuck” (Teresa) Conner of Des Moines, Jody (Brandy) Conner of Newton, and Jeff (Melissa) Conner of Waukee; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sharon and Dean.
