Leonard David Lippert

Leonard David Lippert 84, of Newton died on Friday, September 18, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, at Newton Union Cemetery.  

David, the son of Rex and Fern (Moore) Lippert, was born on March 22, 1936. He grew up in the Udell area and graduated from Udell High School in 1954.  On December 16, 1955, David was united in marriage with Betty Jean Landgrebe in Iconium.  They made their home in Newton where David worked for the Maytag Company for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Local UAW 997. After retirement, David and Betty loved to camp and travel. They also wintered in Texas for many years.

Leonard is survived by his son, David Duane Lippert of Newton; grandchildren, Sara, Nicole, Natalie, Cara, and Clint; three great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Carletta Watts, Janet Wright, and Bonnie Messena. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty in October of 2019; daughter, Kimberly; one brother; and one sister.
