Linda Kay McKinney, 68, of Newton died on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her home. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the church. Memorials in Linda’s name (checks made payable to Jessica McNeer) may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Linda, the daughter of Paul B. and Marian (Pyle) Doran, was born on August 2, 1955, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1973. On June 22, 1974, Linda was united in marriage with Edwin McKinney. She worked at Thombert in Newton until her retirement. Linda was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and UAW Local 997. She was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs. Linda enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with her grandkids.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Jessica McNeer of Newton; grandchildren, Abigail and Adam McNeer; siblings, Chris Doran and David Doran; sisters-in-law, Cheryl McKinney and Mary McKinney; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin McKinney in 2014; a brother, Paul F. Doran; and brothers-in-law, John and Tom McKinney.
