Lisa Dykstra Obituary

Lisa Ann Dykstra, 68, of rural Kellogg died on Friday, May 15, 2026, at MercyOne in Newton.  A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Friday, May 22, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to an Animal Rescue League of the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home.

Lisa, the daughter of John William and Frances Marion (Ozbun) Collier, was born on September 8, 1957, in Des Moines.  She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from SE Polk High School. On October 26, 1973, Lisa was united in marriage with Randy Dykstra in Ankeny.  They made their home in Mitchellville until moving to Newton in 1976. When Randy and Lisa’s kids were little, Lisa was a homemaker. She would later work at P.J.’s Deli.  In 1997, Lisa began a 25-year career as a Para with the Newton Community School District, retiring in 2022.

Lisa and Randy enjoyed traveling and had taken multiple trips to the mountains and the beach.  She also liked flower gardening, when the neighbor’s chickens came to visit, and spending time with her family.  Lisa loved her fur babies, Gizzy and Penny.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Randy Dykstra of rural Kellogg; children, Chris (Kristy) Dykstra of Indianola, Ronnie (Lacie) Dykstra of Newton, and Kelly Dykstra of Altoona; her grandchildren, Kaylee Dykstra, Chase (Lindsay) Dykstra, Lance (Courtney) Dykstra, Collin Dykstra, Johnathan Rolniak, and Shelby Rolniak; great-grandchildren, Lainee Dykstra and Miles Dykstra and one more great-grandchild on the way; her sister, Teri Hunter of Pleasant Hill; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, John W.
