Lois Louise (Buckalew) Brown

   Lois Louise Brown, 82, of Newton, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. Lois, the daughter of Carl and Louise (Blankenburg) Buckalew, was born November 26, 1940, in Chariton. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and was a graduate of Monroe High School. Lois was united in marriage with Harold Brown on September 2, 1956, in Nashua. She had worked as a secretary for The Maytag Company for many years. She had served as a Cub Scout leader when her boys were young. Lois enjoyed doing puzzles, crafting, and most of all, spending time with her grandkids.

   Lois is survived by her sons, Rod (Cindy) Brown of Newton, Kent (Jill) Brown of Grimes, and Kyle (Terrie) Brown of Frisco, Texas; her grandchildren: Davis Linden, Grant (Carrie) Brown, Allison Brown, Kara (Nate) Milone, Benjamin Brown and Zachary (Sarah) Brown;  6 great-grandchildren: Kaidin Brown, Talin Meyer, Olivia and Jackson Milone, and Lucas and Kendall Brown; and her sisters, Sonja (Darrell) Ver Huel and Beverly (Dean) Tibbs.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold. 

   No services will be held at this time, but a Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.  Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital can be sent to the family or left at the funeral home.
