Lois Caroline (Leavens) Hildenbrand, 87, of Newton died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Newton Healthcare Center.  No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials in Lois’ name (checks made payable to Sheryl Van Baale) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lois, the daughter of Harold Bart and Alma (Trueper) Leavens, was born on January 30, 1938, in Newton.  She grew up in Newton and was united in marriage with Gerald Wilcox, Sr. on October 16, 1954. They were blessed with six children.  When the kids were growing up, Lois worked as a waitress at Bigelows.  Later she would drive school bus for the Newton Community School District and drive the Book Mobile for the Newton Public Library.  After Gerald and Lois got divorced, Lois moved to Burlington.  On May 31, 1998, Lois was united in marriage with Daniel Hildenbrand.  They continued to live in Burlington and Lois began working as a truck driver.  Her last job before retirement was in housekeeping at the Burlington Airport.  Lois moved to Tennessee for a short time before moving back to Newton.

Lois is survived by her children, Barb Doyle (Jim) of Texas, Sheryl (Terry) Van Baale of Newton, Frank (Robin) Wilcox of Texas, Melissa (Ron) McConnell of Des Moines, and Tina Dittmer of Newton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Donnie (Lynn) Leavens.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan Hildenbrand; son, Gerald Wilcox, Jr.; her brother, Harold Leavens; grandsons, Randy Mikesell and Rusty Wilcox; and two great-grandsons, Evan and Ethan.
