Lottie Jarnagin, 86, of Newton, died Friday, February 20, 2026, at her home in Newton. No services are scheduled at this time.
Lottie, the daughter of Wiliam Taylor and Lula (Whaley) Modlin, was born July 14, 1939, in Arkansas. She graduated from Beebe High School in Beebe, Arkansas in 1957. She also had her CNA certification. Lottie moved to Newton in 1959, where she first worked for The Vernon Company and the telephone company. She then went on to work as a CNA at local nursing homes and then at Skiff Medical Center. Lottie was united in marriage with Quentin DeVore in 1960, and together they had two daughters, Jill and Andrea. The couple later divorced. Years later, Lottie married Robert Jarnagin.
Lottie enjoyed reading, crocheting, and counted cross-stitch. Most of all, she enjoyed her family—especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Those left to honor Lottie’s memory include her daughters, Jill McMahon and Andrea DeVore, both of Newton; her grandchildren, Nathan Beintema and Megan Beintema (Justin Anderson); her great-grandchildren: Alexis Hirayama (Remmy Lillo), Ryleigh Beintema, Dalton Anderson, and Brysen Anderson; her great-great-grandchild, Alaric Lillo; her siblings: Velda Clark, Judy Cass, Dal (Linda) Modlin, Billie (Dean) Burk, and Lula (Mike) Bucklin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Jarnagin; the father of her children, Quentin DeVore; her great-grandson, Devin Beintema; and 3 brothers: Clarence Benton, Hal Modlin, and Louie Modlin.
