Louis, the son of Louis and Frances (Kelly) Klemm, was born on January 25, 1938 in Des Moines. He grew up north of Kellogg. Louis graduated in the class of 1956 from Kellogg High School. After high school, Louis worked for Haines Electric in Kellogg and also farmed. On April 16, 1966, Louis was united in marriage with Deloris Perin at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. They purchased the farm north of Kellogg, where they would live and farm for the next 54 years. Louis also drove school bus for the Newton Community School District for 17 years and was the rural mail carrier for 11 years. He retired from all of his endeavors in 2011.
Louis was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and was a Mariposa Township Trustee for over 40 years. He and Deloris enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, and playing cards with family and friends. Louis and his brother, Jim, loved to restore old machinery together. Louis was an Irish, Catholic, Democrat who was black and white in his opinions but never shied away from telling a good joke or story. He loved to tease and make people laugh. Louis was also dedicated to his family and took great care of Deloris for many years.
Louis is survived by his children, Regina (Todd) Lenz of Kellogg and Tony (Andrea) Klemm of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Jarica White, Aidan Klemm, David Klemm, Leo Klemm, Nate (Haleigh) Lenz, Abbey (Sam) Bro, and Courtney (Trent) Albee; his great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Cooper, Rylee, Grahm, Heath, Adeline, and Barrett; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Klemm of Kellogg and Betty Krough of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deloris in 2019; a daughter-in-infancy, Angela Renee Klemm; brother, Jim Klemm; sister, Mary F. Klemm; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hulin.
