Marcus Kainz, 70, of Newton, died Friday, June 13, 2025, at Traditions Memory Care. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials to the ASPCA can be left at the church on the day of the service or brought to the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
Marcus, the son of Leo and Marcyanna (Fraske) Kainz, was born August 26, 1954, in Lavergne, France. His family immigrated to the United States when he was a toddler. The family lived in several locations throughout the country while his father served in the military. Marcus attended Drake University, where he had studied French, poetry, and painting. He worked as an artist, traveling to different shows and fairs to sell his work. Marcus was united in marriage with Harriet Clements on August 30, 1978.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Harriet Clements of Newton; his sister, Margaret (Jerry) Veach of Kelseyville, CA; his nephew, Christopher Veach; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
