Nathan “Nate” Caylor Chance, 45, died on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at his home in Des Moines. A celebration of Nate's life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022, at DMACC in Newton. Memorials in Nate’s name to help his children (checks made payable to Virgil Chance) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Nate, the son of Virgil and Diana (Van Cleave) Chance, was born on November 15, 1976,in Des Moines. He lived a short time in Des Moines before moving as a young child to Newton. Nate graduated from Newton High School in the Class of 1995. He was united in marriage with Trisha Wadsworth on January 25, 1997 in Newton. They were blessed with two children: Alexa and Zaccary. Nate most recently had been working for Murray Motors as a mechanic and prior to that in construction. He was a member of The Deal. Nate enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, and reading. He also loved anything to do with cars.
Nate is survived by his children, Alexa Chance of Des Moines and Zaccary Chance of Cedar Falls; mother, Diana Chance of Newton; father, Virgil (Judie) Chance of Kellogg; siblings, Jason (Tammy) Chance of Newton, Marc Chance of Manchester, and Colinda Chance of Thornton, Colorado; his paternal grandmother, Alice Ladd of Newton; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Athena. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Enid and John Winegardner.
