Norma Louise (Buckingham) Halverson, 77, of Newton died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday October 7, 2024, at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials in Norma’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home (checks payable to Craig Halverson).
Norma, the daughter of Craig and Jeanette (Johnson) Buckingham, was born December 13, 1946 in Alta, Iowa. She graduated from high school and went on to also finish beauty school. On August 3, 1975, Norma was united in marriage with Craig Halverson in Cedar Rapids. She primarily was a homemaker but also babysat neighborhood kids before and after school and worked at the elementary school in Newton serving lunch when her kids were growing up. Norma enjoyed life, her grandkids, loved the Lord, and was a dedicated wife.
Norma is survived by her husband, Craig Halverson; children, Katie (Sean) Adams and Kurtis (Cari) Halverson; grandchildren, Seth Adams, Kylee Adams, Vance Halverson, Haylee Adams, and Annabelle Halverson; and siblings, Al (Kathi) Buckingham and Jayne (Dave) Nestor. She was preceded in death by her parents.
