Norma "Pudge" Lea (Peterson) Allspach

Norma Lea “Pudge” (Peterson) Allspach, 95, died on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Park Centre. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials on behalf of Pudge may be sent to the Jasper County Historical Museum.

Pudge, the daughter of Roy and Elva (Lowry) Peterson, was born on December 13, 1926, in Colfax, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945. In 1946, Pudge was united in marriage with Donald Allspach in Troy, Kansas. Pudge was a lifelong Newton resident and farmer. She was an active member of the Farm Bureau and a proud Hawkeye football season ticket holder for over forty years. Pudge was an avid sports fan. She specifically enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Newton Cardinal football teams. She loved to travel and took bus tours around the country. Pudge also appreciated good conversation over a hot cup of coffee where topics could range from farming to politics to horses.

Pudge is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Allspach; nine siblings, Roger Peterson, Avonel Garvin, Zane Peterson, John Peterson, Anita Johnson, Nellie Ann Peterson, Jean Peterson, Janice Peterson, and Edward Peterson; and family friend Robert L. "Bob" Butler.
