Patricia Crook Ingledue Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Kay Crook Ingledue, 85, of Newton died on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home in Park Centre.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials to Wesley Life Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Pat, the daughter of Jess and Betty (Diggs) Piatt, was born on December 20, 1940, in Winterset, Iowa.  She grew up in Madison County before moving to Newton in 1955.  Pat graduated from Newton High School. On October 21, 1956, Pat was united in marriage with Ronald Wharff in Nashua.  After his death in 1961, she married Kenneth Crook on November 26, 1966, in Omaha, Nebraska.  Pat worked various jobs around the Newton area including as a waitress, salesclerk, and office administration. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years and also had been a member of the Women of the Moose since 1970, serving on the Academy of Friendship and the College of Regents.  In 1985, Kenneth passed away.  Pat would move to Mission, Texas in her retirement years from 1994-2004. In 2004, she moved back to Newton and later would marry Terry Ingledue on March 4, 2017, in Newton. Most recently, Pat was attending the First United Methodist Church.  She loved to travel and also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and other outdoor activities.  She also loved to spend time with her family.

Pat is survived by her husband, Terry Ingledue of Newton; sister, Shirley (Dan) Burton of Bloomfield; nieces and nephews, Deborah (Chris) Van Sickle of Newton, Shelley Piatt of Ankeny, Cliff (Sandy) Piatt of Hartford, Michael (Kim) Kaisand of Plano, Jeff (Tina) Kaisand of Ames, Jeanne (Jason) Arter of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Jesse Smith of Unionville, Jimmy Smith of Unionville; and their families.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jess Piatt; mother, Betty (Harold) Hughes; two husbands, Ronald Wharff and Kenneth Crook; son, Steven Wharff; sister, Sandra Kaisand; brother, Clifford Piatt; brother-in-law, James Smith; and niece, Melinda Smith.
