Patty Lou Farr, 85, of Newton died on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Park Centre Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will meet friends with a coffee time from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorials in Patty’s name (checks to Harry Farr) may be left at the funeral home.
Patty, the daughter of Charles and Luella (Sanders) Binegar, was born on June 12, 1940, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1958. On November 14, 1958, Patty was united in marriage with Harry Farr at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton. For several years, Patty stayed home to raise her children. After they were in school, Patty began working for the Newton Community Schools as a baker, retiring 30 years later in 2001. She then worked part-time for Rock Communications. Patty enjoyed playing BINGO and going to garage sales. She also loved spending time with her family.
Patty is survived by her husband, Harry Farr of Newton; children, Tony (Judy) Farr of Newton and Tami (Tim) Smith of Malone, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Lane (Jasper) Tratchel, Bode Farr, Callie (Josh) Fontenette, and Levi Halverson; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Rowan, Atticus, Joshua, and Kyler; her brother, Gerald “JB” (Linda) Binegar of Newton; and her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Farr; and siblings, Leonard Binegar, Eleanor Madoll, Donald “Butch” Binegar, Pauline Plowman, Hazel Sutton, and Alice Farr.
