Peggy Messick, 80, of Akron, Ohio, passed away suddenly on May 2, 2026. Her death follows just two months after the passing of her beloved husband of 50 years, Kenton.
Born January 4, 1946, in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edward and Delores Reinberger. Peggy was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing hymns and attending Bible study.
Peggy’s life was centered around her family, whom she loved dearly. She was known for her warmth and spirit, often expressed through her love of baking; her banana bread and kringla were favorites among family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; and her granddaughter, Danielle.
Peggy is survived by her sister Mary, her children: daughters Christine (Ed) Parisi and Angela Thornburg (James) and son Christopher Messick (Sonja). Her grandchildren Melanie (Tim), Justin (Veronica), Taylor, Joseph (Megan), James, Mackenzie (Remi), Joshua (Danielle), Jacob, Sierra, Juliana, Emily, and John Paul and her 10 great-grandchildren brought her so much happiness and joy.
A celebration of life will be held May 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa with visitation beginning at 9:30.
Her family finds peace in knowing Peggy is reunited with her beloved Ken, together again in God’s eternal care.
