A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service. Memorials to the Newton Fire Department can be left at the funeral home.
Perry E. Jones, the son of Ernest Junior and Margaret “Betty” (Hanagan) Jones, was born November 14, 1954, in Grinnell. He graduated from Newton High School in 1973. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Perry worked for the Newton Fire Department for 10 years until he was injured. He attended Marshalltown Community College and Iowa State University. He worked as a substance abuse counselor at Capstone and later worked in IT at Eyerly Ball. He also ran his own computer repair business.
Perry enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, building computers, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Heartland Trike-In Motorcycle Club.
Perry is survived by his children, Aaron (Nicole) Jones of Marshalltown and Carissa (Nicholas) Wadding of Warrenton, Virginia; stepchildren, Nathan (Amber) Almer and Jonathan Almer; his grandchildren, Caleb and Ty Jones and Carter and Evan Wadding; his significant other, Loretta Tool of Newton; siblings: Tallie Furrow, Diana (Tom) Zrudsky, Evelyn (Les) Beck, Larry Jones, Cindy (Dennis) Bates, and Debbie (Tim) Pefferman; his best friend since childhood, Doug McClun and his wife, Sue; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Edith Jones; wife, Sue Jones; and stepson, Alexander Almer.
