Randall “Randy” Ray Collins, 67, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A potluck celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 2-6 p.m. at the Izaak Walton League
Randy, the son of Bernard “Sam” and Katherine (Gronwold) Collins, was born on October 5, 1956 in Winterset. As a child, he moved to Newton, where he would live most of his life. Randy worked in construction in the Newton and Grinnell areas. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League. Randy loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping. He also was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and NASCAR racing.
Randy is survived by four children, Billie Moreno of Colfax, Chad Collins of Grinnell, Brandi (Zoe) Collins of Davenport, and Becky Collins of Dalzell, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Echo (Michael) Denny of Cedar Falls, Anthony Wade of Japan, and Benito Moreno of Colfax; two great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marlene Trease, Nancy Collins, Eugenia (Brad) Adams, and Tillena Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, LaDonna Thompson, Jay Collins, Terry Collins, Carla Brake, and a sister, Kathleen in infancy.
