Raymond Leroy Martin

Raymond Leroy Martin, 77 of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, Valeria, and Leon passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.  No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials in Raymond’s name may be left at the funeral home (checks made payable to Anita Koester).

Raymond, the son of Kenneth L. and Melva G. (Masters) Martin, was born on June 26, 1946, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.  He attended school in Newton and Mingo.  Ray enjoyed working with his hands and telling a good joke.

Ray is survived by his children, Lahoma Newton, Leroy Martin, Scott Martin, Jamie Martin, Justin Martin, and Shawn Martin; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sisters, Katherine (Ron) Anderson and Anita (Paul) Koester; brothers, Jeff (Karen) Martin, Thomas White, Michael White, and John White II; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth (Lorena) Martin; mother, Melva (John) White; brothers, Jacen Martin, Kenneth Martin II in infancy and Bill White; and a sister, Lorraine Moore.
