Rene Lynette Lyons, 54, of Newton, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Des Moines. No services will be held at this time.

Rene, the daughter of Edward and Beverly (Parrish) Lyons, was born on June 28, 1968, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1986. Rene was a cat lover, but she also enjoyed collecting anything related to koala bears. Her other collections included pens and anything miniature. Rene loved to travel, but her favorite destination was close to home: the Iowa State Fair.

Rene is survived by her daughter, Sara (Daniel) Banker of Indianola; grandchildren, Shannon, Jayson, and Jaxson Alexander of Russell, and Chloee McQuin of Indianola; brother, Shawn Lyons of Florida; son-in-law, Garrett Alexander of Russell; niece, Erica Lyons of Hobe Sound, Florida; and close friend, Jim Alexander and his daughters, Sheila, Amanda, and Renee of Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jessica Alexander; and brother, Rod Lyons.
