A Celebration of Rich's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or March of Dimes can be sent to the family or to the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
Rich, the son of Harlan and Engeline (Steenhoek) Cannon, was born August 7, 1951, in Newton. He received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Iowa. Rich served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era and had been part of the Air Force Boxing Team. He was united in marriage with Holly Rosenberg on May 23, 1976, in Evanston, IL. Over the years, they had lived in Mason City, IA Platteville, WI, Fargo, ND, Fort Madison, IA, and Knoxville IA, before moving to Newton. Rich had most recently worked as a bank analyst and escalation specialist with Wells Fargo, retiring in January of 2020. Rich was known for his smile, his sense of humor, and his happy, energetic personality. He enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics and was excited to start working with the clients at Progress Industries. He was a “Packer Backer:, avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, and loved watching college wrestling.
Rich is survived by his wife, Holly Cannon; children, Allicia Cannon and Derrick Cannon; his siblings, Milt Cannon and Dorothy Faidley; his nieces and nephews: Jill Cannon-Hollingsworth, Rob Cannon, Dwayne Faidley, Daniel Faidley, and Diana Sinner; and his brother-in-law, Nat Rosenberg.
