Rich was born August 26, 1961, in Grinnell, to Richard “Dick” and Joyce “Joy” (Watson) Mulbrook. He was a 1980 graduate of Newton High School. He had amazing electrical, mechanical, and automotive savvy. Rich could fix almost anything and had a wonderful knack for solving problems. He was the go-to guy when others gave up. Rich also enjoyed farming and worked land that had been in the family for generations. He most recently had been working at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Previously, he worked at Maytag and Trinity in Newton.
Rich had a big life and lived it to the fullest. He craved adventure. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and snowmobiles, often taking trips with his wife, Regina, to new locations to visit family and friends in faraway places. He loved his son, Richie, and doted on his grandson, Kinnick. His many nieces and nephews adored Uncle Rich and he adored them. Rich was forever the caretaker. At work, he took care of all the equipment problems of the hospital staff. As a farmer, he was a caretaker of the land. For his parents, he used his time off work to take care of them. He was a protector and guardian to his sisters and he provided for his wife, son and grandson generously.
Rich is survived by his wife, Regina; his son, Richie; his grandson, Kinnick; his parents, Dick and Joy; his sisters, Angie (Chris), Tina (Eric) and Tricia (Kirk); his nieces and nephews- Quinn, Alyssa, Jenny, A.J., Nick, Morgan and Peyton; and Regnia’s children, Gina (Mark), Joshua (Kyra) and Alyssa (Nate). Rich was dearly loved by all his family and friends. His impact on his family was immeasurable, and he will be greatly missed.
