Richard “Rick” Michael Pittman, 73, of Newton died on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials to Westwood Golf Course, Home Instead, or Suncrest Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
Rick, the son of Fred and Betty (Synhorst) Pittman, was born on March 18, 1952, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1970 and then attended DMACC. On February 16, 1996, Rick was united in marriage with Kathryn “Kathy” Pittman in Phoenix, Arizona. Rick worked for many years for Newton Implement, first in parts and later as the Service Manager. He then worked as a Service Advisor for Axtell Ford and then Lauterbach, retiring on March 31, 2015. Rick was an avid golfer and a member of Westwood Golf Course. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, vegetable gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. Rick also loved taking care of his rose bushes with his “grandpa’s rose” being his very favorite.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kathy Pittman of Newton; children, Mindi (Howard) Noel, Lisa Gomez, and Dawn (Jim) Bollhoefer, all of Newton; his grandchildren, Kyleigh Kelso, Kaden Kelso, Kaitlyn Noel, Emma Noel, Parker Noel, Gage Gomez, Isabelle Gomez, Claire Gomez, Kate (Jorden) Etter, Stephanie (Luke) Beintema, and Jacob (Megan) Bollhoefer; great-grandchildren, Esmme, Eleanor, Lauralie, Adelaide, Reuben, Haddie, Miriam, Bella, Mercy, Elaina, Sarah, and one more on the way; his siblings, Kay Cross of Des Moines, Fred (Bonnie) Pittman of Ankeny, and Luanne (Mike) Fitzpatrick of Newton and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Adley Gomez.
